When you use our AI-powered learning exploration application ("Curi") at trycuri.com, you trust us with your information. We take your privacy very seriously. In this privacy policy, we seek to explain to you in the clearest way possible what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it, in compliance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Account & Authentication Data (via Clerk):

When you create an account, we collect:

  • First and Last Name (if provided)
  • Authentication credentials (managed securely via our third-party provider, Clerk)

Payment & Subscription Data (via Lemon Squeezy):

We do not store your credit card numbers or banking details. All payment processing is handled by our Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy. From them, we receive and store:

  • Subscription status (e.g., Active, Cancelled)
  • Billing period dates
  • Product/Variant information
  • Email address associated with the billing
  • Subscription metadata

B. Usage Data & Generated Content

We collect data regarding your interactions with our AI learning tools to provide the service.

Usage Activity and Preferences:

We store information about how you use the platform to generate learning paths and quizzes. This includes the topics you explore, quiz scores, and your interface preferences (such as selected learning level or dark mode).

Technical Identifiers:

We use anonymous identifiers (such as a random Visitor ID) to link your sessions across visits and to enforce daily usage limits on our AI tools.

Local Device Storage:

To enhance your privacy and user experience, certain temporary data (such as your recent search history) is stored locally on your device (in "LocalStorage") rather than being permanently archived in our central databases.

C. Information Automatically Collected

We use an internal logging system to monitor application performance and errors. We do not use third-party tracking analytics.

However, standard technical information is automatically collected when you visit, including:

  • Log and Usage Data: Service-related, diagnostic, usage, and performance information.

  • To improve our AI: analyzing aggregate usage trends (e.g., "Trending Topics") to improve the relevance of our content.

4. Will Your Information be Shared with Anyone?

We only share information with your consent, to comply with laws, to provide you with services, to protect your rights, or to fulfill business obligations.

We rely on the following third-party service providers:

  • Authentication: Clerk (Handles secure user login and identity management).
  • Payments: Lemon Squeezy (Handles all billing, tax compliance, and payment processing).
  • Hosting & Database: Vercel (Hosts our application and database).
  • AI Models: We utilize AI providers to generate content. Your text inputs (prompts) are sent to these providers to generate answers, but we do not allow them to use your data to train their public models.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use "Local Storage" and necessary HTTP cookies to maintain your session and preferences.

  • Strictly Necessary: We use cookies/local storage to keep you logged in (via Clerk) and to remember your Visitor ID and Age Group preference.
  • No Third-Party Tracking Cookies: We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

6. International Transfers

Our primary operations are in Australia, but our service providers (Vercel, Clerk, Lemon Squeezy) are located in the United States and other jurisdictions. By using TryCuri, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in these countries. We ensure that our partners maintain high standards of security and privacy compliance.

7. How We Keep Your Information Safe

We use industry-standard security measures. Your search history is stored locally on your device where possible. Your payment data is never stored on our servers. Authentication is handled by a specialized security provider (Clerk). However, no transmission over the internet is 100% secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

8. Your Privacy Rights

For Australian Users:

Under the Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.

Account Information:

If you would like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can log in to your account settings or contact us. Upon request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases.
